About this trip

The Chepang Village Tour is a newly developed village tour program. This unique village tour offers a combination of cultural experience and sightseeing of the Chepang communities, an ethnic groups in Nepal.

This tour lets you experience the rural social life, i.e. the culture, lifestyle, traditions, customs, and rituals of the Chepang communities who have their own distinct language.

This trail/tour also comprises of other visits to ethnic communities as well such as the Tharu, Musahar, Satahar, Danuwar, Tamang, Kumal, Gurung, and Magar communities.

The Chitwan Chepang Hill Trail begins at Hugdi, between Mugling and Krishna Vhir in Dhading district and ends in Shaktikhor, Chitwan district.

Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Travel Devisers’ representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designed hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel.

At the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Sightseeing around Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors.

The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influences.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be guided to visit 3 renowned Buddhist and Hindu temples: Pashupatinath, Bouddha Stupa, and Swayambhunath.

After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.

Drive to Hugdi Khola and trek to Hattiban

Today you will be driven to Hugdi Khola which takes around 3 hours.

On the way to Hugdi Khola, you can see spectacular views of the great Himalayan peaks, green hills, rivers, and traditional Nepalese villages.

After reaching Hugdi Khola, you have to walk for around 4 to 5 hours to Hattiban – a beautiful village with magnificent views.

You will be accommodated at local houses or community managed homes for the night.

Trek to Jautesh – Changa – Dinglang – Jyandala

From Hattiban, the trail starts to the Jyandala penetrating other Chepang settlements such as Jautesh, Changa, and Dinglang.

Here you can observe the Chepang communities and their cultures.

From here you can also see the western Himalaya range and the greenery of Chitwan National Park.

Trek to Siraichuli – Chisapanitar – Upendragadi

Today you will trek from Jyandala to reach Siraichuli.

Siraichuli is popular for the view of the sunrise and sunset. Chisapanitar is also a beautiful village where you can see the cultures and tradition of the Chepang communities.

The nature and the spectacular views make it an ideal place to stay overnight with the local communities.

Trek to Shaktikhor

This day you will descend toward Shaktikhor via gadi.

Shaktikhor is another Chepang village and the center for the sustainable tourism initiative of Chepang people. Here you can find a Chepang museum and a Visitor Information Centre.

The caves and the water fall around the village are wonderful for a relaxing stroll.

In the evening, the local people can perform their cultural programs on request.

Trek to Sauraha and explore Chitwan National Park

This is the final day of trek that ends in Sauraha. Here you can go for a jungle safari at Chitwan National Park.

Don't miss out on a chance to see tigers, one horned rhinos, bears, deer, wild boar, crocodile, and more.

You can also enjoy the Tharu stick dance perform by local people.

Drive back to Kathmandu

After visiting the Chitwan National Park and the Chepang village, you can return to Kathmandu via private vehicle which can take around 6 hours.

On the way you have spectacular views of the Himalayas along with the green hills, river, forests, and local villages.

Rest at Kathmandu

Today is an extra day to relax and enjoy Kathmandu to reduce the fatigue. You can go for shopping, body massage, or other light activities.

Depart from Kathmandu

After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight home.

You also have the option to to extend your stay in Nepal for shorter trips, such as visits to national parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and more. We are always ready to help you plan for these if you would require them.
