About this trip

The Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek is one of the popular trek in the Langtang region. This trek is the combination of three important places i.e. Langtang valley, Gosainkunda and Helambu valley. Trekkers will get opportunity to observe and explore natural beauty – the Himalayan wildlife and Himalaya cultural experience – Tamang’s culture. Langtang region is culturally rich, mostly inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa communities and their tradition, rituals, life-styles; cultures are the attraction of this trek. This region is protected as Langtang National Park that consists of variety of high peaks, monasteries and a sacred lake called Gosainkunda, which is a very popular Hindu pilgrimage site of Nepal.

In this trekking trail, trekkers can capture the awesome and breathtaking views of snow – capped Himalaya’s peaks like Mt. Langtang Lirung, Mt. Ganesh Himal, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Gaurishankar, Mt. Dorje Lakpa etc. In addition, rivers such as Trishuli, Bhotekoshi and other small rivers catch the attention of trekkers’ eyes and mind. Moreover, beautiful forests of Pine, Bamboo, Rhododendron and others trees and plants, its landscapes, glaciers, waterfalls, and wild animals are some other charm of this trek.

In overall, this trek is very interesting and adventurous has an ability to provide the best experience of Himalayan region from its natural to cultural diversities.

Arrive in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Travel Devisers’ representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designed hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel.

Sightseeing around Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors.

The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influences.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be guided to visit 3 renowned Buddhist and Hindu temples: Pashupatinath, Bouddha Stupa, and Swayambhunath.

After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.

Drive to Syabru Besi

Leaving Kathmandu after breakfast, you will be driven to Syabru Besi, which is 135km far from Kathmandu.

The drive will approximately take 9 hours. To reach Syabru Besi, Pasang Lamu Highway will be taken.

Moving to your destination, you will pass through several locations like Kakani (best known for panoramic view of great Himalayas of Nepal, hills and Kathmandu city itself), Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche.

The route will be accompanied by magnificent views of mountains such as Annapurna, Langtang, Gaurishankar, Ganesh and Manaslu etc. and an opportunity to observe local villages, their people and lifestyle.

Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel

This day marks the beginning of the trek. After breakfast, you will walk towards the northern side to suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi River.

Continuing the trek, you will pass Daman Landslide Lodge, Dangdung Khola and Langtang Khola on the way and then you will climb Rimche.

From Rimche, you will reach Changtang, which is popularly known as Lama hotel. On the route you see terraced fields and dense forests with a variety of species of plants like Oak, Maple, Alder and Bamboo.

Besides, you might also get to see yellow-throated Martin, Wild Boar, Langur monkey, Red Panda and Himalayan Black Bear en route.

Trek to Langtang village

This day you will continue the ascent above the Langtang Khola.

The trail offers you the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung – the highest peak of the Langtang region, several lodges, yak pastures and meadows, cultivated land yielding barley, turnips, wheat, buckwheat, potatoes and scattered Tamang village which is the headquarter of Langtang National Park.

Trek to Kyangjin Gompa

Today your destination will be Kyangjin Gompa, one of the popular Gompa in this region.

The beauty of the trek will be enhanced by surrounding monasteries, government operated cheese factory, scenic forests, hills and mountains, rivers, and undulating glaciers.

Additionally, you can also observe and explore the culture, tradition and lifestyle of traditional of ethnic Tamang and Sherpa communities.

Trek to Lama Hotel

From Kyangjin, you will take the route back to Lama Hotel. You will follow the Langtang Khola, Langtang village, Ghora Tabela to Lama hotel and will be accommodated at this place.

Trek to Thulo Syabru Gaon

This day you will trek from Dhunche to Syabru Gaon, which will take about five and half hours.

Today’s trek will be very leisurely and will take you through forests and terraced hill slopes.

Syabru is a beautiful village stretched out along the ridgeline. From here, you can enjoy spectacular views of Langtang Lirung,Tibetan Himalayan ranges and so on.

Trek to Sing Gompa

The trail to Sing Gompa climbs through forests of Oaks, Firs and Rhododendrons.

You will have to climb uphill at each junction and cross another forested ridge. The trail continues across the head of a second valley, Sing Gompa, which is the main attraction at Chandan Bari. Sing Gompa has several hotels and a small cheese factory.

Trek to Gosainkunda

From Sing Gompa youwill have to climb a ridge to get into the main Gosainkunda trail.

As the trail ascends, outstanding views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung and Himalchuli, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu can be observed.

Eventually the trail will descend from the ridge to the three lakes: Saraswati Kund, Bhairab Kund and Gosainkunda.

Gosainkunda (Holy Shiva’s lake) is particularly sacred place of pilgrimage in the summer (especially in the day of Janai Purnima, which is the one of the popular festival of Hindus). According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva himself created this high altitude lake.

Explore around Gosainkunda

Today you will spend the entire day exploring the lake.

The lake is located at an altitude of 4380m from the sea level and covers an area of four square miles.

As mentioned earlier, many Hindus and Buddhists participate in the huge festival that takes place in summer. Near Gosainkunda, there are other lakes as well - Bhairab Kund and Saraswati Kund.

Trek to Ghopte/Tharepati

On this day of the trek, we will enter Helambu region, which is renowned for its rich Sherpa culture and traditions.

En route we will pass several lakes and the view from Lauribina pass is stunning.

We will then make ascend for two and half-hours to get to top and again we will step down to Phedi for lunch.

Another short ascend will take us to the final destination of the day, i.e., Thadepati.

Trek to Kutumsang

From Tharepati there are two trails, one that leads to Melamchi Bazaar and the other that leads to Kutumsang. Following the later route, we will walk through the jungles to Kutumsang.

Normally the trek goes down to Mangengoth for lunch from where we will have to make steep descent to Kutumsang.

Trek to Chisapani

Leaving Kutumsang, today you will leave for Chisapani. A walk of three hours through forests, beautiful hills and a Tamang village will take you to Chisapani.

Trek to Sundarijal and drive to Kathmandu

Today you will trek up to Sundarijal and then you will be driven to Kathmandu, which takes about one hour from Sundarijal.

On the way to Sundarijal, you will pass through Shivapuri National Park where you can see varieties of flora fauna in addition to the beautiful view of Kathmandu valley and terraced farmlands.

Depart from Kathmandu

After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight home.
