About this trip

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek route lies in Annapurna region. It is one of the most famous trekking destinations of western Nepal.

It is popular for its easy trekking trail that offers magnificent views of Himalaya ranges such as Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Mt. Annapurna-I(8091m), Mt. Machhapuchhre, Mt. Gangapurna, Mt. Lamjung Himal, Mt. Barasikhar, Mt. Nilgiri South, Mt. Tukuche, Mt. Dhampus and Mt. Hiuchuli. Trekkers can enjoy scenic riverbanks, picturesque forest valleys, diverse flora and fauna, Hindu and Buddhist temples, attractive traditional villages of ethnic communities of the Magar, Gurung, Ghale, and Thakali.

In addition, the trail boasts of hot spring which is located in the bank of Kaligandaki River. This trek is also regarded as the mini Annapurna circuit trek.

Arrive at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Travel Devisers’ representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designed hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel.

At the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities.

Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu Valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors.

The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influences.

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be guided to visit 3 renowned Buddhist and Hindu temples: Pashupatinath, Bouddha Stupa, and Swayambhunath.

After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.

Kathmandu- Pokhara

This day,early in the morning, after having breakfast you will be driven to Pokhara city, 200 km west from Kathmandu.

It takes 5-6 hours on a tourist vehicle or you can take a flight as well.

Through the road we will be passing through beautiful forests, deep gorges and Nepali villages on our way to the destination.

Drive to Nayapul - Tikhedunga

This day will mark the beginning of your trek.

The trek will start from Nayapul, which is about an hour drive away from Pokhara in a private vehicle.

Upon reaching Nayapul, you will be walking for tentatively 20 minutes along the banks of the Modi Khola and reach Birethanti, a large village housing many shops and teahouses.

The trail then continues throughvalley of Hille crossing the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola and ultimately we will end the journey for the day in Tikhedhunga.

Trek to Ghorepani

Today you will ascend the path that leads Bhurungdi Khola and Ulleri village to Ghorepani.

The name Ghorepani in Nepali means "horse-water" owing to its role as an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker's stop.

Ghorepani has been fascinating tourists and trekkers with its small shops and stalls selling local products and crafts.

Hike up to Poon Hill - Tadapani

Poon Hill is famous for its ideal location to view sunrise.

Once you witness the mesmerizing view of sunrise at Poon Hill, you will have breakfast and then descend to Tatopani crossing the rhododendron forests amidst the awe-inspiring view of Dhaulagiri range.

This path then leads through terraced fields to Sikha, a Magar village in Kaligandaki.

Trek to Ghandruk

Leaving Tadapani, you will trail along terraced fields beneath the splendid panorama of glaciated Himalayan mountain ranges i.e. Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna-III, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli with warmth and sincere hospitality of locals at Ghandruk Village.

Ghandruk is famous for catering to the requirements of all trekkers’ who hit the trail through this route.

Trek to Nayapul drive to Pokhara

The day marks the end of the trek. This day you will trek towards Nayapul to catch the vehicle to go backto Pokhara.

While moving forward to Nayapul from Ghandruk, you can see beautiful forests, hills, Himalayas, rivers etc.

Pokhara City tour

Pokhara is a globally renowned tourist destination for its natural beauty. After breakfast, you will be guided for half-day city sightseeing.

Firstly, you will visit Fewa Lake where you can see the reflection of Mt. Machhapuchhre if the weather is clear.

The lake also houses Barahi Temple located in the middle of the lake. Other interesting destinations would be Devi’s Waterfall, Tibetan Refugee Settlement, Gupteshwor Cave, International Mountain Museum and Bindabasini Temple.

In the afternoon, you will be driven back to Kathmandu depending upon the request of the guest.

Fly/Drive back to Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will be either driven to the Pokhara airport to take a flight to Kathmandu or will be driven to Kathmandu via tourist vehicle.

The entire day in the capital is free for some shopping and relaxation.

Depart Kathmandu

After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight home.

You also have the option to to extend your stay in Nepal for shorter trips, such as visits to national parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, and more. We are always ready to help you plan for these if you would require them.
